Thierry Charon, tax adviser, is a member of the Executive Board of Loyens & Loeff N.V. since October 2018. Together with Bram Linnartz, he makes up the Executive Board of Loyens & Loeff.
He is co-head of Loyens & Loeff’s VAT, Customs & International Trade Practice Group in the Benelux. He divides his time between Loyens & Loeff’s Belgian and Luxembourg offices. He is also a member of the Loyens & Loeff Automotive Team and its China and India Desks.
For more than 20 years, Thierry has specialized in VAT, customs, excise duties, international trade matters, real estate and in transfer pricing matters. He also advises clients on real estate transactions. His clients are mainly from the automotive, finance (securitisations, holdings, investment funds) and real estate sectors in Belgium and across Europe. He also counsels international organization and foundations on indirect taxes matters.
Thierry is a Lecturer in VAT law at the HUB (Hogeschool – Universiteit Brussel), the Chairman of the European VAT Club and a member of the VAT Expert Group of the European Commission. He is also member of the Global Legal Customs Association (GLCA) as well as of the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
He is mentioned in his field of expertise as a leading expert by ITR World Tax, ITR Tax Controversy Leaders and Legal 500 EMEA. He is also recognised as an expert in tax law by the Best Lawyers guide (2017).
Thierry is frequently asked to speak at seminars on VAT and customs-related matters.
Thierry has been a member of the Instituut van de Accountants en Belastingconsulenten (IAB) since 2001.
