Since 2019 Emma is a member of the Indirect Tax practice group of Loyens & Loeff in the Netherlands. Before joining Loyens & Loeff she has worked for 9 years in the Global Trade Advisory team of Deloitte in the Netherlands. She is specialized in international trade, customs, and excises.
Emma advises a wide variety of international clients on a broad range of customs, trade and excises matters, focusing on the more complex issues. As such, she frequently advocates on behalf of clients before the customs authorities, for example in case of a customs audit. She has gained broad experience in settling disputes and ligating in court, both at Dutch and EU level.
Emma is a lecturer and teacher in customs law at the Maastricht University where she is also enrolled as PhD candidate. Emma often acts as speaker at conferences and contributes regularly to books and professional journals on customs, excise, and international trade related topics.
